Eole, here we go!

It’s done – the budget for RER E has been set and an additional €400 million has been allocated to the project, taking the total financing for the extension of RER E to the West to €2 billion. Work has also begun in parallel in Porte Maillot as well as in Courbevoie where the drilling of shafts is now underway. The first is to be fitted with an acoustic hangar to minimise noise pollution linked to the tunnelling (with no tunnelling equipment adapted to the specific constraints of the concrete pedestrian area of La Défense) and will be filled in when work is completed. The second, (through which a tunnelling machine – equipped with an acoustic hangar – will pass) and the third will be used to remove mud and other excavated material as well as providing access for emergency services. A base is also to be built on the Quais de Seine for the excavated material to be taken away by barge.
