Sport : making Paris a leader among global cities

Sport is a channel for social cohesion, as is culture. Due to its large facilities, sport also shapes and strengthens the cityscape. Sport therefore has a fundamental role to play in Greater Paris, in terms of infrastructure and supply of sports activity. The aim for the city is to anticipate needs in order to develop the practice of sport at all levels (amateur, high level and professional), and to be able to organise and host the largest of international sports events.
Several streams have been identified in a sports infrastructure development plan – such as considering sport within Territorial Development Contracts (CDT), the construction and renovation of large sports facilities or even the organisation of a sporting event which will embody Greater Paris for sport.
