Paris is a major market for higher education, with 17 universities, 600,000 students (10% from overseas) and 70,000 teacher-researchers.However, universities are facing issues around profile and student accommodation capacity. Grand Paris therefore needs to try and overcome these challenges.
Several strands are planned with, in particular, a more sustained level of student accommodation production, renovation of libraries and sports centres as well as the simplification of university organisation and the consolidation and renovation of their real estate portfolios.
An overall approach is therefore preferred. This aims to strengthen the excellent quality of universities in the Greater Paris Region by improving working and living conditions for both teacher-researchers and students.
