Grand Paris includes an economic growth target to confront competition from other global cities. On the one hand, construction and renovation work in terms of public transport should create between 15,000 and 20,000 jobs per year in the public works sector. On the other hand, longer term, once the network is in place, increases in the Greater Paris Region’s attractiveness could create 115,000 to 315,000 jobs.
According to the Chamber of Commerce for the Greater Paris Region, Grand Paris should generate €60 billion in net public income per year by 2030. It should also have an impact on the region’s growth rate which should increase by 1.5% to 2% per year between 2015 and 2020, then by 2% to 2.5% between 2020 and 2030 and by 3% after that. The Chamber of Commerce for the Greater Paris Region therefore estimates that Greater Paris will make a total contribution of €140 billion to French GDP.
