The « Seine Défense » CDT

Dedicated to the financial sector, the cluster of La Défense is supported by two CDT projects: “La Défense Ouest – Les deux Seine” and “Seine Défense”.
“Seine Défense”, the second CDT project at La Défense, aims to support the momentum of the business district, to foster sustainable residential development, to facilitate connections within its boundaries and to deploy transportation infrastructures able to connect the Seine Défense territory with the rest of the metropolis.

In the Hauts-de-Seine “département”, the CDT project encompasses two towns (Puteaux and Courbevoie) that collectively account for 133,000 inhabitants, 175,000 jobs and 68,000 residential units..

Although the CDT project has, to date, not been validated, the framework agreement between the French state, the mayors of the towns and the Prefect of the Greater Paris Region was signed on May 14th, 2012.

Key objectives

So far, the only detailed objective that has been disclosed is to build around 600 residential units annually over the next six years.

The framework agreement sketches three projects (development, infrastructure and economic growth) on the following sites:

  • Within the La Défense renewal plan, the Porte Ouest area in Puteaux (in particular, the Bergères district) and the Porte Est area in Courbevoie (Cœur de ville operation and Bécon-les-Bruyères station);
  • La Défense’ circular boulevard, key to engaging in a dialogue with municipal districts;
  • The Seine area and the launch of La Défense-on-Seine (La Défense sur la Seine).
